I'm switching it up this month. Before I have simply given date ideas but after thinking about it, I thought perhaps you'd like to know what sort of date we'd need to plan in order to make the most of these fantastic happenings around San Diego. Below you'll find recommend ideas along with a minimum length to bring these exciting dates into fruition! I'm also going to add a few ideas for June for those that like to really build the anticipation, I love a thoughtful planner!

Playing with Fire Dinner Series May 8th (4+ hour date $1500)
The Lodge at Torrey Pines is bringing back the popular monthly outdoor grilling event series. Executive Chef Kelli Crosson and Chef de Cuisine Ryan Dzierzawski partner with some of San Diego’s most talented chefs to create a curated menu with dishes cooked over a wood-burning fire. Hosted on The Grill’s patio overlooking the Torrey Pines Golf Course, every event also includes pours from a featured local craft brewery for us to enjoy.

2023 San Diego County Fair June 7th - July 4th (6+ hour date $1800)
Adventure awaits at the 2023 San Diego County Fair – "Get Out There!" to explore the great outdoors and get s'more of what life has to offer Wednesday, June 7 through Tuesday, July 4 at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. Scout out Best-of-Show winners in the Fair's competitive exhibitions. Reach new heights as you spin upside-down in the FunZone. Hike around San Diego Grown to learn all about local agriculture from food to fiber to flowers. Be prepared for an unsurpassed line-up of entertainment on the fair's featured stages. Summer camp has never been so much fun!
Taste of Julian June 10th (6+ hours date $1800 /Highly recommends overnight for leisurely date 10-12 hours $2600 or 14-16 hours $3000)
Taste of Julian: Julian’s Annual Celebration of Julian Faire shows there is more to Julian than Apples. While apples will always be revered by the hamlet of Julian, we have more than apples to celebrate and Taste of Julian is designed to do just that…celebrate the deliciously diverse culinary delights Julian has to offer. The event is a self guided tour of the participating restaurants and tasting rooms in the Julian area. This event ALWAYS SELLS OUT! Purchasing your tickets in advance in highly recommended.
Annual Luau Party June 9th (6+ hour date $1800)

The 5th Annual San Diego Smooth Jazz Festival June 24th - 25th (6+ hour date $1800)
The San Diego Smooth Jazz Festival unites music lovers from around the world at the picturesque site of The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park.
